The strategic development objective set for the Attica Region is the promotion of the international role of the capital, combined with measures to alleviate intra-regional disparities and improve the quality of life. This general objective further defined through the following basic objectives: n Strengthening of the international role of the capital n Improvement of the quality of life and the environment n Alleviation of unemployment and social exclusion n Upgrade of infrastructures and sustainable management of resources in the western areas, the less-favoured urban areas and the peripheral zones n Rehabilitation of the sites affected by the earthquake of These objectives are addressed through 6 priority axes and 31 measures.
The basic results expected from the completion of the programme are as follows: n Construction of 2.36km of n Creation of 2 new landfill sites n Training for 7,652 individuals n 10 Integrated Urban Development Programmes n Improvement and completion of 20km of national and provincial road network n Support for 524 manufacturing and tourism SMEs under Regulation 70 508 projects have been approved up to date, their total public cost amounting to 74.1% of the overall public cost of the programme. Total budget contracted (legal commitments) corresponds to 59.2% of the overall public cost of the programme, while expenditure to date on the whole programme amounts to 39.1% of the overall public cost of the ROP. Important projects have already been completed or are now approaching completion, including: n " n "Regional General Hospital of Western n "Repair of Athens National Archaeological Museum", with a budget of €8,655,735 n At the same time work is proceeding regularly on the project "Athens Metro – Extension to Peristeri, Sepolia – Ag. Antonios – Peristeri – Thivon (civil engineering projects)", with a budget of €100,000,000. |
